Custom Gold Birth-Chart Necklace

Three tiny gold pieces on one ultra-fine chain — one each for Loren, Lexi & Laszlo, engraved with their sun · moon · rising signs. Two ways to build it: as hex beads or as hanging plates. This page compares them.

The chain (same either way)

A very fine gold chain — we'd love a sourcing recommendation. Gold-plated or less-expensive gold is perfect, as long as it's ultra-ultra-fine and delicate. The chain isn't the commission; the three gold pieces are.

The three — all signs locked

Each piece carries six marks in the same order: ☉ sun + sun sign · ☽ moon + moon sign · rising + rising sign. Every sign is now confirmed.

The two builds, side by side

Same signs, same chain — two different objects to carry them.

Option A — Beads

How it's made: CAD → cast in gold → laser-engrave each facet. Custom jeweler work. Turnaround 4–6 weeks. All three beads are already modeled in CAD.

Option B — Plates

Gold: ~0.4 g each (~22% less)
How it's made: cut from flat sheet → engrave both faces → drill a hole. Standard bench work — almost any jeweler. Turnaround days to a week.
On the chain: hangs from a small ring — turns freely, so both faces show.

Actual size — these two swatches are true-to-life. The bead is 4 × 3 mm; the plate is 3.5 × 12 mm at 0.7 mm thick (about half a credit card). Both use a ~1 mm hole for the same fine chain.

If plates — two practical calls
  • Keeping them from tangling: space the three with tiny fixed rings, hang all three from one small bar, or use separate short drops.
  • Front/back only shows if it turns: a hanging plate spins freely, so the "wrong" side faces out half the time. Alternative — all six symbols on one face, plain polished back.
